The Bylaws Committee has been formed to review current bylaws and make recommendations for changes to bring before the general membership for approval for the purpose of ensuring a documented framework for the management of the club's internal affairs.
Ed Wirth - Chairperson The function of this committee is to provide computer classes in the lab on Thursday morning from 10:00 am to 12 noon. The classes are hands-on and therefore are limited to 12 students. Pre-registration is required and the fee is $5 per day. Some classes include multiple sessions. This fee is then given to the NSCenter as part of the Surfers monthly donation.
This committee has been established to provide a forum for the hearing of any grievances. The purpose will include making recommendations to the board for resolving grievances in a fair and just manner. Members by appointment.
Ed Wirth -
Chairperson Laboratory Operations is responsible for diagnosis, analysis, review and recommendations for hardware and software upgrades for all computers in the lab, including the club computer. This group also performs all the maintenance, software installs/uninstalls and any other utility work required on the lab/club computers. Club members will be kept informed of any changes to lab operations and equipment through group emails and this website. The group works in concert with Senior Center administration staff and the trainers.
Bob Bloom - Chairperson With the adoption of Bylaws changes in June 2005, the membership responsibility will now be managed through a committee.
Barbara Greer - Chairperson The Programs Committee is responsible for the content and presentation of the various programming associated with keeping club members informed by way of classroom presentations by other club members and guest speakers and lab training.
Bob Bloom - Co-Chairperson This group will be responsible for a variety of events, including planning the social functions for the club, such as the spring and winter social or any other group activity or event that may be scheduled. This committee will also manage and maintain a sunshine fund. The Sunshine subcommittee's purpose is to spread joy and happiness into the hearts and souls of our fellow senior surfers by keeping abreast of the health of the members of the club; sending cards of sympathy or get well wishes when appropriate. Greeting new members at the door for our lab and classroom sessions is also managed by this active group. Publicity and promoting club events is an important part of the committee also. This will be a busy group and will be meeting regularly throughout the year. Dates and times will be established by the committee chairperson.
Marie Dowd - Chairperson
This pair is responsible for writing the "Computer Club" page in
the Newark Senior Center's monthly Newsletter.
This group is responsible for producing the Club's gift CD. This group meets when needed. The CD is now prepared every other year.
